BENEFITING: URBAN BICYCLE FOOD MINISTRY

BreakFest is a day-long celebration of all things breakfast and brunch that will benefit the good guys at Urban Bicycle Food Ministry. Throughout the day, teams will be competing in five cooking categories which will be judged by a star-studded judges panel. There will also be VIP tickets available which include an Old Dominick Bloody Mary Contest and a Bedrock Waffle Bar. Click here for ticket info.

Not part of a team or not a Bloody Mary fan? Don’t worry. You can still have a brunch-y time at BreakFest. There will be food trucks with brunch menu items available for purchase, brunch-y cocktails for purchase, games like cornhole and life-size Jenga, live entertainment, vendors like Sache and Fan Essentials, the Memphis Grizzlies and more. Oh, and all you sports fans? Don’t worry. We’ll have a mobile TV trailer provided by Elite Outdoor Events so you won’t miss a single play during BreakFest.

BreakFest sold out in 2016, so be sure to snag your tickets early.

Need a ride to or from the event, first-time Uber riders get a free ride (up to $20) with code UBERON20.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where is the event and how do I get there?

BreakFest 2017 will be held in the Medical District at the corner of Union and Bellevue at the Southern College of Optometry. The ticketing entry will be on Bellevue. Coming from East Memphis, turn right on Bellevue, and the entry will be on the right. From downtown, take a left on Waldran Rd. (just past 240) as there is no left turn on Bellevue from the West, and you’ll run into the entrance. (See map above).

What’s included in General Admission?

The General Admission ticket allows you to enjoy the live music and games area at BreakFest as well as peruse through the participating vendors (see below for a list). You can also watch the food competition judging which will be done by our star-studded judges panel. Many teams will also be offering samples. If you know someone on a team, you can join them in their tent as well. We’ll also have alcoholic beverages for purchase and food truck vendors with brunch menu items.

Do the VIP tickets include general admission?

Yes, the VIP tickets include general admission as well as an Old Dominick Bloody Mary Contest and a Bedrock Waffle Bar. You’ll also receive a souvenir BreakFest glass and be able to vote on the winner of the Bloody Mary contest along with priority parking and a raffle ticket for the chance to win a free bike.

Where do I park?

Free, ample parking is available along Madison Avenue in any of the Southern College of Optometry parking lots. See the map above for location of lots. Those with VIP tickets will be allowed to park in the closest lot labeled VIP Parking.

Are kids allowed?

Yes! BreakFest is a family-friendly event! However, please note that alcohol will be sold on the premises (only to those with proper ID). Due to our space limitations, children over the age of 2 require a ticket.

How do I start a team?

Grab some friends and try your hand in one or all 5 of our food cooking competitions! The team entry fee is just $200, and both restaurants and amateurs can enter. More team information is located here. Please e-mail [email protected] with questions. Teams will be accepted until September 10 or until space is full.

What do I win?

Bragging Rights! Isn’t that all you need? The Bloody Mary winners (overall, presentation and creativity) will receive a Best Bloody painting from a local artist. The winner of the Anything Goes cooking category will win $300 in cash and all other cooking competition winners will receive $50 in cash. We’ll also have breakfast-themed “trophies” for each category winner. As we grow, we will add to the prize packages, but we want to maximize what we can contribute to Urban Bicycle Food Ministry.

Can I sample food?

Teams are allowed to hand out samples to the public. However, teams are not required to provide samples, and they will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

What if it rains?
